Co-creators of the Money Flow Index
Gene Quong & Avrum Soudack
Gene Quong and Avrum Soudack introduced the Money Flow Index in 'Volume-Weighted RSI: Money Flow', in the March 1989 issue of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities. Little else about either author is publicly documented.
What they argue
- Wilder's RSI uses only closing prices and so ignores volume.
- Classic market tops come with rising volume, so a volume-weighted RSI better measures money entering and leaving a market.
