Australian trader, author and market commentator
Daryl Guppy
Daryl Guppy is an Australian private trader, author and financial columnist based in Darwin who founded guppytraders.com in 1996. He has been a regular commentator on CNBC Asia and has written widely on Chinese as well as Western markets. He created the Guppy Multiple Moving Average (GMMA).
What they argue
- Price action reflects two groups, short-term traders and long-term investors, and their behaviour can be tracked with two bundles of moving averages.
- When the long-term group stays widely and evenly spaced, investors are committed to the trend; when either group compresses, agreement is breaking down and the trend may change.
- The GMMA is mainly a tool for reading trend quality, not a self-contained entry and exit signal.
